TerrAscend closes $9M deal for NJ cannabis dispensary
Multistate operator TerrAscend has snagged another dispensary in Hunterdon County.
In a Sept. 16 press release, the cannabis giant announced it closed a deal to purchase Aunt Mary’s Dispensary in Flemington.
Under the terms of the transaction, TerrAscend will commit a total of $9 million.
That figure includes $3 million in the form of a five-year unsecured convertible promissory note at 6% that provides the option to take a 35% stake in the company, as well as an additional $6 million in cash if TerrAscend exercises the option.
The acquisition comes about two months after the MSO announced it would buy Aunt Mary’s.
TerrAscend has said Aunt Mary’s will continue operating under the same name.
Located at The Shoppes at Flemington, Aunt Mary’s opened in February 2023. The 5,200-square-foot shop initially served medical patients only, but later expanded to welcome adult-use customers after securing New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission approval.
Joining the family
Commenting on the latest acquisition, TerrAscend Executive Chairman Jason Wild said, “Aunt Mary’s generates more than $10 million in annualized revenue today, and we see meaningful opportunities to enhance sales and profitability through the integration of our premium brand portfolio. We are excited to welcome the Aunt Mary’s team to the TerrAscend family.”
Based in Toronto, TerrAscend’s retail footprint of roughly 20 dispensaries spans five U.S. states and Canada. It also has cultivation, processing and manufacturing facilities in core markets.
Within New Jersey, TerrAscend also runs The Apothecarium dispensaries in Lodi, Maplewood and Phillipsburg.
In December 2025, the MSO finalized a deal to acquire Union Chill Cannabis Co. in Lambertville.
The buyout came less than two years after Union Chill opened as Hunterdon County’s first recreational dispensary. That shop remains open under its original name.
